CS Director Information - January 2004
Chess Scotland is delighted to announce some changes to directors'
roles. Craig Pritchett
is now in place as Schools Development Director to develop Chess Scotland's
programme for schools. Craig has recently returned with his family to
Scotland after working in England for many years and has the distinction
of being the first ever Scottish born International Master. A review
of Chess Scotland's competitions and services for schools will be conducted
over the next few months, including a discussion with school organisers
at a meeting likely to be in March. Details will be sent to the main
regional school organisers during January, following up a meeting last
March. If you would like to receive an invitation please e-mail email@example.com
George Anderson has become Membership Services Director, taking over
most functions from Sam Collins. Sam Collins remains Publications Director
and Editor of Scottish Chess. Sam and George worked closely on ensuring
that there was a smooth handover.
This note sets out the main areas of work George and Sam will each
do. This will be particularly helpful to organisers in knowing whom
George Anderson will process all membership applications and renewals,
whether for individuals, clubs or schools. BUT individuals who want
to pay by credit card can still do so through Chess Suppliers either
at their premises at 15 Hope Street, Glasgow, or at congress bookstalls
they run or by phone to 0141 221 6464.
Scottish Chess magazine will continue to be edited by Sam Collins and
will be despatched by him. Consequently organisers wanting to issue
leaflets, entry forms etc should still liase with Sam to arrange this.
The calendar of events is not being printed this year but is available
on the Chess Scotland website. Organisers should tell Sam
Collins of any events which need to be updated, corrected or added.
[Note: Douglas Bryson does not deal this with since Sam Collins manages
this area of the site.]
Congress organisers should also continue to arrange the use of equipment
with Sam Collins.
Congress registration forms should be sent to George
Anderson. Details of the insurance cover available are included
on the registration forms, with further information being available
from Mac McKenzie.
E-mail and postal enquiries about membership should be sent to George
Anderson. Telephone enquiries about membership and general enquiries
should still go to Sam Collins on 0141 221 6464.
