Robert - the list here <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ratings.fide.com/advaction.phtml?idcode=&name=&title=&other_title=&country=SCO&sex=&srating=0&erating=3000&birthday=&radio=name&line=asc">http://ratings.fide.com/advaction.phtml ... e&line=asc</a><!-- m --> includes all living Scots who are registered with the FIDE rating system. Currently the list contains 596 names of which 316 are rated.

We don't automatically register all players in the domestic rating system with FIDE but only those players who have or are about to take part in a FIDE rated competition.

It is now easier than ever to get an initial FIDE rating since only 5 results are required - previously as WH indicated it was 9.

I take it the new FIDE 5 game requirement policy only takes effects from a certain date going forward?

I thought I already would have had a FIDE grade having played 9 games, but they have only counted 7, I think possible results against non FIDE rated players were excluded.

The change to a 5 game min was only introduced in July so our current guess is any player with 5-8 games will only be published with an initial rating if they record at least one new game since the new regulations were applied.

Alex McFarlane has clarified the minimum game requirements for a new FIDE rating.

"On the players who do not have FIDE ratings, those who had a partial before July will still need 9 games to get a rating but anyone totally new needs only 5.

I don't understand the logic which means that someone with a three game partial needs another 6 games for a rating!!"
