The Glorney Faber Tournament is an International team tournament founded with the idea of fostering understanding and friendliness between young people of different nations through out the medium of competitive chess. This being so, the control committee has drawn up the following code of conduct based on respect and consideration of all the participants away from the chess board.
1.Players must not disturb other competitors’ sleep. This means keeping very quiet in the accommodation area after midnight.
Players should remember that some competitors are much younger
than 18 and therefore may need much more sleep than they do
themselves. This rule would have to be applied more strictly if
sleeping accommodation is shared by individuals or teams.
2.Alcohol is prohibited in the tournament hall and in the sleeping and living accommodation. Again, some players may be very young. It is not appropriate to consume alcohol in their presence, or fair to the to do so if they are below the age at which consumption of alcohol is not legally permitted.
3.Smoking is prohibited in the tournament hall..
Serious breaches of This code will be punished by expulsion from the tournament if the control committee so decides.
The Control Committee consists of the managers of all teams participating in the tournament.
Each country has one vote and decision is by majority vote. If a vote is tied the chairman has a casting vote.
The local organiser of the host nation, or its representative, has, in any case, the perfect right to ask any individual to leave the tournament, regardless of any decision made by the control committee.
Any individual sent home would normally travel at his or her own expense.
Each team manager is responsible for the behaviour of his or her team.
