Richardson Cup 1906

The first round match on 2nd December 1905 between Glasgow and Edinburgh was drawn, necessitating a replay on 16th December, Glasgow winning 3-2.

There were two games unfinished in the Athenaeum-Stirling match, but Stirling resigned the match as Athenaeum required only one draw from these games to decide the match.

The Edinburgh Working Men's CC, winners of the Spens Cup the year before and therefore promoted to the 'Premier Division', had as a member of their team Richard Jordan, former World Champion at Draughts (Checkers). Irving Chernev, a lover of both chess and draughts and an author on bother subjects, described Jordan as "..the greatest Draughts player of all..." in his book The Compleat Draughts Player, Oxford University Press 1981. Geoff Chandler has written a fascinating piece about Jordan on his web site.
