Richardson Cup 1948-1949
Main Tournament
Glasgow CC defeat Edinburgh CC at last
in the semi-finals only to lose to Bohemians CC in the final, who
become the first team to win the Spens and Richardson in successive seasons,
and take the cup back to Glasgow for the first time in 11 years. This is
Bohemians only win of the competition. After withdrawing in mid-tournament the
previous season, Jewish do not take up their place owing to the requirement to
play on a Saturday afternoon, giving Glasgow a bye. This also meant no
relegation tournament with Jewish CC being relegated. They do not
appear in the competition again.
