Spens Cup 1922-23
Greenock Chess Club won the Spens Cup for the second time, defeating Glasgow Ladies' CC 4½-2½ in the final on March 17, 1923. (Greenock first won this cup in 1911 and would go on win it in 1930.)

The BCM 1923, page 134, showed the result of the final as a 4-3 win for Greenock. However, on page 180 the detailed board results were shown as above.
The photo shows members of the Greenock CC. Three of those on the team were also in the team that won the Spens Cup in 1911: Rev Young is standing in the centre; W. Sharp is standing second from the right; J. Currie is standing second from the left. Standing third from the left is the treasurer from the 1911 photograph. I suspect that Dr Love, who defeated Alekhine in his simultaneous exhibition in Greenock in 1923, is in the photo (perhaps on right of board).
