Spens Cup 1924-25
The BCM 1925, page 172 reported the competition in this way:Spens Cup Final:- This match was played at 20 Rutland Square, Edinburgh, [also] on February 25th, the combatants being Edinburgh Ladies and Cowdenbeath. The events leading up to the final were:-
Round 1: Edinburgh Ladies a bye; Cowdenbeath 4, Greenock Mechanics 3.
Round 2: Edinburgh Ladies 4, Perth 3; Cowdenbeath 6, Edinburgh Civil Service 1.
Round 3: Edinburgh Ladies 4½, Alloa 2½; Cowdenbeath 5½, Gourock 1½.The Edinburgh Ladies are not new to thefinal stage; indeed they have twice before reached it-in 1921 and again last year, when the Glasgow Bohemians won the trophy. [Edinburgh Ladies also reached the 1920 final, losing to Paisley. AMcGowan]
The Cowdenbeath team which won the cup consists of Fifeshire miners and had never previously reached this stage.
________________NOTE: Working back from the final shown below, and referring to the results outlined above, leaves some issues to be resolved.
a) an additional round seems to have been added to the normal competition
b) what are the details of Alloa's match prior to meeting Edinburgh Ladies?
c) is it possible that the Round 1 results above came about because Edinburgh Ladies automatically gained entry to the event as losing finalists in 1923, and that Cowdenbeath-Greenock Mechanics was a qualifying match?

NOTE: As reported in the BCM. However, as that day was a Wednesday it seems that the date should read either February 21 or 28, as matches were usually played on Saturdays.
