Spens Cup 1939

The final was played at Glasgow on Saturday 4 March. The Glasgow Jewish Institute CC appear in the Spens final for the second year in succession. They lost in 1938, but this time the club had a convincing victory, partly because Gourock players lost three games by blunders that resulted in the loss of a piece.

Max Pavey, on board 1 for Glasgow Jewish, was an American student studying in Glasgow. He would go on to win the Scottish Championship for 1939.
