Capt. G.H. Mackenzie captures 1st Prize outright in this very strong tournament with 21 competitors and a bye each round.
The official opening of the tournament was held on Sunday, July 17. Play commenced on July 18, and great stamina was required to play twenty rounds over the fourteen days allocated (there were rest days on Sundays July 24 and July 31). Two rounds were required to be played on July 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 and August 1.
