Scottish Championship 1908

The annual congress [the 25th] promoted by the Scottish Chess Association was opened in the Rooms of Dundee Chess Club yesterday. The programme consists of a major tournament deciding the championship of Scotland , a minor tournament, and a lightning handicap tournament. The two first-named tourneys were started yesterday, and for the first of these there were eight entrants-Mr W. Gibson, Glasgow (the present champion); Mr A.P.T. Kerr, Birmingham; Mr C. Wardhaugh, Glasgow; Mr J. Crum, Glasgow; Mr A.J. Mackenzie, Birmingham; Mr J.D. Chambers, Manchester; Mr G. Dickson, Edinburgh; and Mr A. Murray, Glasgow.
