At the end of the day's play, the score was 3-3, with boards 5 and 7 sent adjudication. Both games were later scored as wins for Scotland.
From Scottish Chess 64, August 1981.
'Bryson had a very easy win, while McAlpine lost on time!! Pritchett sacrificed material for an attack, but eventualy drew. Morrison had his usual incredible time scramble, culminating with about 20 moves to make in less than a minute, but his opponent seems to have had the same trouble, and played it badly to leave Chris two pawns up, one of them a passed QRP. Mark Condie is adjourned with Queen against Rook and some pawns, but looks to be winning. ON the two non-scoring disabled boards Scotland, represented by T. Martin and J. Dykes, went down 2-0, but not without a fight.'
Scotland were drawn against the USSR in round 2.
