Crichton M. Baxter

Died: 1881, Dundee

Poet. painter, musician, and chess problem composer. In early days he was a member of Angus Chess Club, but is more closely associated with Dundee CC. His chess problems appeared under the pseudonym 'Carolus B' or the initials C.M.B. His cousin, C.R. Baxter, later edited a collection of his compositions in Chess problems by the Late C.M. Baxter, published in Dundee in 1883.
