- On Scotland team at the World Students' Team Tournament 1962.
- On Olympiad team at Havana 1966, Lugano 1968, and Siegen 1970.
Michael Freeman wrote an excellent article for Scottish Chess No. 146, October-November 1996. See Michael' Reminiscences here, which includes meeting several world-class players, including Gufeld, Bronstein, Fischer and Spassky, the latter described as '
a warm and considerate man, unaffected by any sense of grandeur.'
