- On the chess team of Holyrood Secondary School which won the Glasgow Schools' League 1953.
- Member of Polytechnic CC, Glasgow.
- Played on the Polytechnic team that won the Richardson Cup 1957.
- On the Glorney Cup teams of 1951 and 1953. In 1951 he scored 2/3 and in 1953 he scored 2½/3.
He did not play on the 1952 Glorney Cup team, when the competition was held in London. Mr Kinsler commented that this was probably for financial reasons, as travel expenses were not offered.
In 1958, at Glasgow, Mr Kinsler played played Board 2 for Glasgow University CC in the Northern Preliminary section of the British Universities Team Championship. Only three teams entered, Glasgow defeating Edinburgh 4½-1½ and Durham 3½-2½.
Mr Kinsler later moved to England. Until recently, he was involved in chess administration, and he still plays for Winchester in the Southampton League (March 2010).
