Glasgow Herald chess column of Friday, 16 September 1938: The death took place last week of Mr W.A. Lochhead, publisher, Paisley, who was an enthusiastic supporter of chess, and for many years conducted a weekly chess column in his Paisley Daily Express. Mr Lochhead was one of the founders of Paisley CC, and was also a member of Glasgow CC.

Notes: [1] Mr Lochhead was on the Paisley team in the Spens Cup finals of 1920 and 1922. In the first of these, Paisley defeated Edinburgh Ladies' to take the trophy. In the second, Paisley were defeated by Dundee. [2] The BCM 1938, p 453 incorrectly recorded the name as Lockhead.
