Mr Weir died in Glasgow on 16 December 1930 following an
operation. He was one of the oldest members of the Central Chess Club
(Glasgow) and had served in every important position, being president at
the time of his death.
In business Mr Weir was an accountant (William Hart,
jun & Wilson, 61 West Regent Street, Glasgow). He took a special
interest in the younger members of his profession, and was president
of the students' society attached to the Society of Accountants and
Auditors.
NOTE: The 1931 British Chess Magazine (p.82)
wrongly referred to Mr Weir being associated with the Glasgow Chess
Club.
