I've been trying to set one of the above clocks, as follows:

Primary time: 1 minute | 10 moves
Secondary time: 1 minute | 0 moves

I was of the understanding this would mean that you have to make 10 moves inside the first minute before the secondary minute would be added on. If you only make 9 moves in the first minute then your flag would fall (and therefore you wouldn't get the additional minute). However, the clock I'm setting is adding the extra minute on regardless of the number of moves made. I've tried on more than one clock and it's doing the same thing, so it can't be a technical problem with them (or at least it's incredibly unlikely).

Anyone have any ideas where I might be going wrong? 8)

The second Inverness congress will take place from the 6th to the 8th of June, 2014. I am posting advance notice to allow players to get the best possible accommodation and travel deals. Entry forms will be available soon.

To ensure comfortable playing conditions entry is restricted to the first 64 entrants.

For those considering playing, the event will run along similar lines to 2013, details of which are still on the <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.hichess.co.uk">www.hichess.co.uk</a><!-- w --> website, although incremental time controls will be introduced. Entries will be accepted now for the event, by e-mail. The e-mail address is also on the website.

The entry form for the South Ayrshire Congress taking place from the 24th to the 26th of January, 2014 is now available online via the Chess Scotland calendar page.

The event features an incremental time control and a cross-sectional event for seniors, among other things. The congress will be held during the weekend of Burns Night, which is celebrated by Scots the world over. South Ayrshire is the birthplace of the national poet.

The European Individual Championship 2014 will be held on March 2-15, 2014 in Yerevan, Armenia. The venue of the championship is Yerevan Business Centre.
