  Chess the Musical
Posted by: P Griffin - 22-03-2017, 11:38 AM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (2)

If anyone is interested the show is currently being performed at the R.C.S. in Glasgow before moving
on to Edinburgh next week. Be warned that the Director's idea of Chess is more Alice in Wonderland
than FIDE eg. board with glass set on a pedestal, no chairs or clock though the Kings Indian does get
a mention.

A reminder that the Team Lightning will take place after the SNCL on Sunday (see under Calendar for details).

Please let me have as many entries as possible in advance. It makes planning so much easier.

Thanks

Congratulations to the organisers of the Championships who had 45 team entries in 3 categories yesterday and to all those who participated including my own Club members who represented their various schools, noteably Bishopbriggs Academy who were brilliant in winning the Secondary School Title :-)

  SNCL Rounds 5 and 6
Posted by: Andy Howie - 27-02-2017, 12:59 AM - Forum: League Announcements - Replies (3)

Results are up on the front page as well as on Chess results http://chess-results.com/tnr243674.aspx?...t=2&wi=821. FIDE grading will appear after Weds. Please can you let me know of any mistakes.

Looking through the leagues

Division 1

Winner will be either Dundee City A or Edinburgh 1. Edinburgh need to win to be champions any other result and Dundee win.

Relegated will be Giffnock. Who joins them is complicated.
For Thistles to be safe, they need to win. If they draw then they need either a win for Forth Valley or a win for Edinburgh West. If they lose then Edinburgh West also have to lose and score 2 game points less
Edinburgh West are safe if they win or draw. They can lose provided Thistles also lose and Edinburgh score 1.5 points (1 point goes to tie break that I am not going to think about tonight)
Forth Valley are safe with either a win, a draw or Thistles losing

Division 2
Inverclyde are champions, Stepps will be promoted with them

Going down East Kilbride are relegated, joining them CSBOS1 have to beat IPCC to stay op. IPCC stay up with a win or draw

Division 3
Bon Accord are champions, Perth will be promoted alongside them

Forth Valley B are relegated, Oban have to win 5-0 with Dunfermline losing 5-0 for it to go to tiebreak

Division 4

Yikes. 5 teams in with a chance. Donald will let me know the draw this week. Looking at it, seems likely that 4 of the teams will be paired together. Fair to say if either Lenzie, Musselburgh, Paisley, CSBOS2 or Crouching Tigers win their games, they have an excellent chance of being promoted.

If Musselburgh win then they will be champions. Lose and they are unlikely to be promoted. Draw, given their inferior board count v the others, they are unlikely to be promoted
CSBOS2 and Lenzie are a point behind so need to at least draw to be in with a chance.
Paisley and Crouching Tigers need to win and hope other results go their way
