Re: World Youth 2013 - David G Congalton - 18-12-2013 Matthew Turner Wrote:Quite a few changes must have come in on the morning. Ali is now 46 on the website, but 49 in the pairings. Iran are very much an emerging chess nation, so its a bit of lottery how good her opponent is. Not sure. From Chess results - 48 Foster Chantelle L ENG 1901 49 Roy Ali SCO 1891 But Ali is 46 on the official site with a grade of 1889 and Chantelle is 50 graded 1872. I'm guessing there was a FIDE update between entry and event and organisers are using most recent grades. Ali's current rating is 1891. Re: World Youth 2013 - David G Congalton - 18-12-2013 Pairings now on official website under "standard". Still no sign of live games though. We are more likely to hear from 24 voices than 1. Makes sense to me As for live games, knowing the difficulties there are in doing it i have real sympathy for the team that are running it Re: World Youth 2013 - Matthew Turner - 18-12-2013 I understand Ali was forced to sit at the board for an hour before the game started - not terribly satisfactory. A win, which I guess must have been quite short, but I don't have any details. Re: World Youth 2013 - David G Congalton - 18-12-2013 Lots of photos of the event, discussion and other news on twitter. If I can work out how the whole thing works. The ECF have a link on their junior page, which has opened up a whole new world to me. Folk from all over tweeting about the WYCC. Quote:Live games will start in 2nd round. @worldyouthchess .When something is on air should be correct. And 1st round was out of schedule. Re: World Youth 2013 - Andy Howie - 18-12-2013 Had a message from Ali, the round started 3 hours late Re: World Youth 2013 - Andy Howie - 18-12-2013 Tried to work it out from the website. Totally confused. Thankfully Ali told me she won today ![]() Re: World Youth 2013 - David G Congalton - 19-12-2013 Round 2 Draw 18 49 SCO Ali Roy 1 1 Veronika Lezhepekova RUS 20 Re: World Youth 2013 - Phil Thomas - 19-12-2013 Decoding the numbers. Board 18 Ali is 49th Seed players scores to date are 1/1 Opponent Veronika L.... is 20th seed & from elsewhere on the site is graded 2121 Re: World Youth 2013 - Matthew Turner - 19-12-2013 Ali is White on the official website and Black on chessresults - I assume that chessresults is correct because the official website basically lists all the seeds as having Black. One wonders what will happen next, a fire alarm perhaps =) |
