Re: Baku Olympiad - George Murphy - 13-09-2016 The Live Boards appear to have been corrected/edited, and now Scotland's Men's Team is shown to have scored a whitewash after all!! Well done! Re: Baku Olympiad - Geoff Chandler - 13-09-2016 It does appear that Scotland's last round 4-0 helped the USA win the Olympiad. They were King Makers! Plan A for the 2018 Olympiad. Andy, drug those other four, tie them up and dump them in the hotel cellar. Give their passports to four look alike 2700+ GM's and bring them back. Let us know how you get on with this. Please ask Neil to get me Eugenio Torre's autograph. Neil will be OK with this, I ask him to get an autograph on every trip abroad. Geoff Re: Baku Olympiad - Jim Webster - 13-09-2016 According to the results server: - Candidate Master(s) awarded in Women Section at Baku. * 66 2400456 Roy, Ali Scotland SCO 8 5 8 * 67 2404117 Rutherford, Kathleen Scotland SCO 11 4,5 8 Congratulations to both Ali and Kathleen. Re: Baku Olympiad - George Murphy - 13-09-2016 Even better news! It was noticeable that Ali sat out the last three Rounds, having played in all previous matches. Assuming this did not reflect ill-health, then I’d say it demonstrated astute captaincy/management. Besides “pocketing” Ali’s excellent performance, it also gave Kathleen a clear opportunity, which she grasped with both hands. All told, good strategy and man-management. Congratulations again, not only to the Team, but also to the “Brains” behind them. Re: Baku Olympiad - Jonathan Livingstone - 14-09-2016 Jim Webster Wrote:According to the results server: - Not too sure they have Jim, but could be wrong? Was just looking at http://chess-results.com/tnr232876.aspx ... 821&snr=69 and as I understand it: Ali Roy got a 2001 TPR which qualifies her for WCM title (a different title to CM) that requires a 2000 TPR, in which case she would have just made it. If that is correct, congrats to her. Re: Baku Olympiad - robin moore - 14-09-2016 New WCM titles.. http://chess-results.com/tnr232876.aspx ... =30&wi=821 Three girls from Wales on the list also, well done to them. Re: Baku Olympiad - Jonathan Livingstone - 14-09-2016 That is what I was querying Robin, Kathleen is on that list but her TPR was 1800ish. Needs to be 2000+ to get that particular title? Re: Baku Olympiad - Jim Webster - 14-09-2016 Sorry, I did actually mean WCM. Re: Baku Olympiad - robin moore - 14-09-2016 Jonathan, It looks as though you have to score 50% at the Olympiad providing you play a certain number of games (which appears to be 7). Can't track down the exact regulation. Re: Baku Olympiad - Jonathan Livingstone - 14-09-2016 robin moore Wrote:Jonathan, Am I understanding this correctly? There is a special rule, only for this particular women's title, only at Olympiad's, that if you score 50% or more regardless of your TPR or the opposition strength of opponent, you qualify. |
