Re: Glorney and Faber 2015 - Andy Howie - 27-07-2015

We will probably clash again as July 2nd is too early a start for the Scottish (see arguments for dates for Commonwealth for reasons why).

From the Glorney website...

Glorney Gilbert 2016 - To be hosted by England. Provisional dates are July 17th to 21st to be confirmed on or around April 2016.

I found this today from the Fide website. A proposal by the Slovakian Chess Federation to hold the 2016 World Youth U16 Olympiad. The dates are 21st-30th July.

The U16 Olympiad is a great event and costs are relatively low with the hosts providing free board and accommodation to a squad of five players plus a coach/ head of delegation.

Re: Glorney and Faber 2015 - robin moore - 30-07-2015

The Euroyouth 2016 is scheduled for Prague in the Czech Republic in August. The specific dates aren't set yet but I would think it likely to be very early in August if the Slovakian bid for the U16 Olympiad is approved. This would offer countries a decent option of their players competing in both events which happened in 2012 (Prague for the Euroyouth then Istanbul for the U16 Olympiad a few days later).
Of course it means a logjam of possible events (Scottish/Glorney/U16 Olympiad/Euroyouth) for our top juniors. I guess you have to throw in the British (July?) and EU Youth (normally August) also.

But this is only a bid from Slovakia with proposed dates. Dates for this type of tournament can and do change after FIDE have awarded them to a host country.

The only tournament dates that pragmatically can be juggled at this stage of proceedings are
The British
The Glorney
The Scottish

The first of which is likely to become known in the next few days.
Perhaps it already is?
