Gordon MacDonald - Crawford Macnab - 30-08-2018 Gordon died on 22nd August after a long illness. His funeral service will take place at 1.00 p.m. on Friday 31st August at Mortonhall Crematorium Edinburgh (Main Chapel). He spent his working life in the Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue & Customs). He was a longstanding member of Edinburgh Civil Service Chess Club for over thirty years. And for many years was a council member of ELCA (now Chess Edinburgh and Lothians). Always approachable and a mentor to new members to the club. He was most famous for playing the stonewall defence which he played with great success as black or white. Gordon was also a keen bowler and was latterly a member of Slateford Bowling Club, helping to secure this as the current venue for the club. He will be sorely missed. |
