Hi, hopefully someone can explain the following problem to me...
I have downloaded the Grading calculator program and have been entering my results for this season. However, I don't understand some of the adjusted grades being used. Take the following...

...why are the figures in bold 120 points different between actual and adjusted?

Andy,
most likely explanation is that the bold figures are grades of juniors. For grading purposes junior grades are enhanced by 120 points before calculating your grade. Linked to an assumption on how fast junior grades rise compared with adults whose grades on the whole tend to go up a little or done a little year upon year.
For a more complete explanation just wait for a computer savvy grading savvy reader to post - shouldn't take long

just change the adjusted grade manually - just tried doing my grading for the season a minute ago and one of my games got adjusted from 1787 to 2407!

Hamish, my 'old' (actually current) rating is 2249.
P.S. In the passing, did you see the following game? Was planning to e-mail you it http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=8628 as I thought it might be of some interest after your games against myself and Boris.
Phil, the gradings aren't for juniors (although perhaps the 'calculator' thinks they are?!). The games are against players like Neil Berry, Eoin Campbell, Dave Findlay etc.

If there are rogue characters in column B (STATUS) then it may add on the junior addition. Is column B blank?

I've been using column B for the names of all my opponents! That would explain it I guess - cheers Dougie
