Bound copies of British Chess Magazine - Dick Heathwood - 08-05-2014 Pentland Hills Chess Club has been given a bound set of BCM and they are offering them to anyone who is interested in acquiring them in exchange for a donation to club funds. The earliest copies go back to the 1950's and, as far as I can see, there is a complete set. The magazines have been professionally bound with hard covers. The books require around about 1.5 metres of shelving space and our club does not have that amount of storage. Any interested party should email me, please - dickheathwood@gmail.com Re: Bound copies of British Chess Magazine - Alex Gillies - 08-05-2014 Interesting item - how many is that in total? what value would you say? Perhaps you might get more funds by raffling them to interested buyers - £5 or £10 - depends on no's and value Re: Bound copies of British Chess Magazine - Roland Kensdale - 10-05-2014 Sorry I would not buy them, but just to let you know they probably have some value. See the prices at: http://www.chessbooks.co.uk/BCM.html Tony Peterson at this site might well buy them (at a reduced rate to give him a healthy profit - no harm asking how much he would offer) if you didn't want the hassle of selling them yourself. The weight (postage) is a factor in costs of purchase. Glynn's Books 30 Parsons Mead Norwich, NFK, United Kingdom NR4 6PG http://www.abebooks.co.uk/glynns-books- ... 3949676/sf Katherine Glynn seems to have one of the largest 2nd hand chess book stocks and would also probably be interested. Chess Suppliers might collect them and sell them at a bookstall ? ( http://www.chesssuppliers.co.uk/ ). You would probably get more by offering them on ebay - as a complete set you would (once a buyer found) get more than per volume I am sure. You could advertise an ebay auction at http://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewforum.php ... f22f721414 which is a widely seen uk site. Pity you don't have the shelf space - possibly another club might - but they might not have the same money as the above to offer to Pentlands. I have unbound editions up to late 1960's (not at my current address) and I know how good they are. |
