Folks,
Think it's fair to say we all had a great time at Pardubice. It's a top tournament, professionally organised, impressive venue, excellent value for money.
If you get off to a good start in the section I play in (under 2000), you can normally avoid most of the rapidly improving central and eastern young European juniors that populate the 1550-1650 band.
If you get off to a rocky start (me this year), you can find yourself facing junior after junior that don't understand that they are meant to have given up and lain down against a clapped out "coffee house" enthusiastic player from Scotland who has a much higher grade (but is really a diddy player who has got lucky in the past).
I enjoyed every minute of it.
