Looking like an excellent tournament so far, with something of interest in all the sections and not really a clear favourite in any of them.
Normally, I'd fancy my own chances in the Minor (why, oh why, oh why - it only ever leads to disappointment) but haven't been able to put in the time I wanted on my chess, due to absolutely no reason whatsoever. (I've actually been working quite hard on my game but sshh I'm lulling you all into a false sense of security).
Looking at the Minor entrants so far, the first round is shaping up to be almost completely adults v juniors, with Andy McCulloch as honorary top board for the juniors.
If this does turn out to be the case, can I ask the esteemed organisers of the Lothians Allegro, if they could arrange the Minor first round boards, all in a row, with the colours of the boards set, so that all the tall, human people are on one side and all the small, evil, elves are on the other. Can I also ask that all juniors are required to wear small pointy hats and can somebody bring Andy McC an elf hat?
That way, if nothing else, I'll get a laugh in the morning, although I may lose the first game on time due to having to sew up my split sides.
Good luck to all at the weekend, irrespective of age or height.
