At first sight it looks like you hopped on first available plane to answer from Prague so quickly.
The 100 Euro fee I recall as being standard back in 2008. It seems nothing is free - one frequently has to pay an admin fee to collect. It was a similar story a few months back when I won the Nigerian lottery.
Its concerning though that FIDE have sanctioned a massive 50 % hike in the charge. I would expect 150 Euro to be the norm from now ..... until the next increase.
For sending juniors abroad it's not as simple as finding cheaper and more cost effective events. There is nothing like a world championship to secure a headmasters consent for absence during term time.
