How about a simple compromise?

Add a column to the Members List where anyone can list an alias they wish to use on the board.
I presume it is a relatively straight forward modification to the members list table.

Isn't the members list only viewable by registered logged in members?
In which case only they can see the real name of the poster if they feel inclined to do so, but any casual readers/guests will only see the alias.

I can then go back to being a "FlyFifer" again Big Grin

Maybe J*R would feel like posting again then, and by the way :- if
