David G Congalton Wrote:Adam Bremner Wrote:Jonny has battled back well. After the disappointment of r1 it is easy to get into a bad streak, especially in an event where most nations have serious 2600+ GMs prepping their team for our players. Tomorrow I believe his opponent will have Nigel Short to help him prep!
Jonathan drew round 7, which raises the question (for me) as to what could he have done with similar support to his English opponent?
No result through yet for Clement.
It is a very valid point. Interesting to note that Jonny played Ravi at Hastings 6 months ago and won with black. Apparently the English no longer have Short as he was there for only a few days, but are now being backed up by Hebden, who at 2550, is a fairly handy player to have in your corner. There is not a lot can be done about this, but it does show that they are stronger than their TPRs might suggest.
