I have discussed this privately already but we could go back to holding the lightning on a separate day from the SNCL.

Ken Stewart originally asked to tag the Lightning on to the end of SNCL because it would give the competition a central venue, the venue was already paid for and available and many of the people who take part in the Lightning are already there having played the last round of SNCL.

Usually the SNCL AGM is quite quick but unfortunately last season we had quite a few changes that needed to be discussed.

Number of people participating in the Lightning has increased since it joined the SNCL's venue.

Ken also realised that the Lightning could not afford to have its own venue and he was grateful that SNCL bore the burden of cost so he was able to distribute more money to the prize fund.

This tournament has been seen as a fun way to relax and socialise after SNCL. It has become a firm favourite section of the event.

Thor, the present organiser, has also been able to take advantage of the SNCL arbiters being on site which has been a great help to him as the number of teams has increased since Ken's tenure.

For these reasons I would suggest strongly that the Lightning keeps its connection with SNCL

The only occasion the Lightning could not be held on our last afternoon is if we had to cancel earlier rounds due to bad weather. This has only happened once in all the years that I have organised SNCL. If this scenario was to happen, the Lightning would have at least a month's notice to make other arrangements.
