Team Lightning 2025?
#1
Apologies if I have missed this but are there any details about this competition?

Calendar entry https://www.chessscotland.com/calendar/t...ning-2025/ does not give much beyond date / start time.

Searching back to emails from last year I think it might be:

Each team has 4 players, and can enter as many teams as you want.
Time control is 5 min + 2 sec, all games are FIDE rated.

Good to have some official details.

As SNCL teams are 5 players, is it allowable to have a squad of 5 players entered for the lightning?
Playing 4 from 5 in each round with someone sitting out.

Thanks,
Crawford.

Yes it is 3+2, we want to finish the same day we started...

You can play with 5 players, it is a bit more admin for the team captain as we need the results each round for grading but it is allowed.

Entries are taken on the day as well as with the entry from

Is it also the case that "player 5" is restricted to board 4 in line with other FIDE rated team events?

Is the blitz fide rated? In any rate I dont think so the players have no FIDE eating

Yes it is and most actually do have a FIDE Blitz rating

Just realised I replied to Ian but not Jim,

Yes they have to be in grading order so would be on board 4

It is also possible for player 5s to get together and make a new team of four. It usually works out okay on the day.

Teams who are playing in SNCL in the morning are welcome and encouraged to play. It's a great fun afternoon

Hopefully lots of people not at SNCL will also come for the afternoon tournament. We aim to start on time so hopefully there will not be too much business to get through at the AGM

Anyone needing to contact the organiser please contact Thor -- he does this one, not me!

Have a lovely time guys and gals,

GG
