The organisers have just updated the teams taking part. We are seeded 36th of 39 teams. Here was me thinking it was going to be tough! Our team is Murad Abdulla, Daniel Deary, Andrew McCusker, Ian McDonald and Zak Roy. Four players take part each day and we intend to give everyone as equal a number of games as possible. Been told it was 35 degrees at 9.30 this morning so hats and sun tan lotion aplenty look to be the order of the day. We are all really looking forward to the event immensely in a very interesting city,
Robin.

Not sure how much of the city Robin will see, after this quote on another thread.

Don't think you'll need the sun tan lotion etc.. A good pair of running shoes or a fast getaway car might be more useful!

Good luck one and all!
I'm gutted I couldn't go but I've taken time off to attend the World Youth with Daniel in November. So, I'll spend my holidays this year in the cold of Slovenia in winter when I could have been in sunny Istanbul. D'oh! ;|

All mums and dads can now relax! We are all here safely vıa varıous routes. Loads of players from all over the world here at the unıversıty accommodatıon plus seperate other tourıng groups not connected to chess. Actıon for us starts tomorrow and all the guys cant waıt to get goıng. The rooms and food here are basıc student fare but ıts clean and frıendly and about 20 mınutes away from the venue we reckon by bus transfer. Plentıful ıncredıbly cheap ınternet access here also so hopefully be able to keep everyone updated daıly. As usual we wıll have a tough opponent tomorrow but we wıll all be tryıng our best

Have just checked the U16 Olympiad website and there is not a thing on it about who the team are playing, etc I thought it was stressful being at these events but it's even worse being here and not having a clue about what is happening!!!! ;P
