I've played in the West Wales Congress a few time. It's a very friendly tournament and you obviously get to play a set of different faces.

Round 1 – Friday 11th October 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
Round 2 – Saturday 12th October 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
Round 3 – Saturday 12th October 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Round 4 – Sunday 13th October 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
Round 5 – Sunday 13th October 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

CONGRESS RULES
Rates of play 42 moves in 1hr 45 mins. After 42 moves both clocks to be
moved back 15 minutes and the games completed in the
time remaining.

Thanks for notice of the Swansea event and I hope it's well supported.
However, as Andy has pointed out it clashes with one of the top Scottish congresses at Dundee, a great event that has a wonderful venue, very enthusiastic organisers and good accommodation options. The entries for this congress are increasingly annually and deservedly so. I would encourage everyone to give it their support.

I wish the Swansea event well, as I made a few friends on my recent visit to Wales with the Glorney-Gilbert lot. However, Dundee is hard to beat and I'll be there again this year. The congress is superbly run and the organisers extremely helpful. The venue is top notch, accommodation is reasonable and when I managed to lose my first round a few years ago, a second round bye allowed me to have a stroll round Dundee City Centre where I bought the most delicious cheese from a little stall.

Cheese and Chess, now there's a thought. Cheese shaped chess pieces (or chess shaped cheese pieces, depending if you're black or white) and you eat your opponents piece when you take it. I could call it Chessar and get a sponsor. Accompanied by small biscuits. Completely crackers, before anyone else says it. 8)

Yes, I know that the Dundee congress is the same weekend but the Wales congress may suit some peoples circumstances. (I should have a search back and find a similar thread the last time I posted. )
I took various Scottish congress flyers down to the last Welsh congress I visited to try and attract some of their members up here. That's how it works eh.
