Well we're off. Round 1 completed.
Tomorrow should be action packed at Ayr.
Fingers crossed for up to 14 live boards, the whole of the Open section.
Big screen monitors throughout the venue displaying the top games.
A coaching and commentary room hosted by Andrew Green and Ali Roy, with hopefully some of the players dropping in to add to the fun.
The junior Saturday event for up and coming youngsters.

Just had a look at this morning's games. There seem to have been a lot of blunders by good players. I'm guessing that Neil Berry's position went South in time trouble, but there were a few one-move blunders on other boards. Was there a particularly enthusiastic Saturday night down there?
Easy to spot blunders from the safety of my armchair of course.

New event? It has been going for 4 or 5 years now!

Yes and a 'must go to that one' congress for many of us. Thanks to David and his team, another excellent congress this year. Good to see so many juniors. I applaud all those who were involved on the TV screens, live boards, internal commentary etc. The large screens in the playing area were well done, good to see chess getting interactively jazzed up like this, just what our game needs. Doesn't seem like it will be long now before there is progression to text commentary with the live boards.

We could do it now but it is hard enough to do the live boards and arbit without setting up and monitoring twitter! Maybe one for the future if we can get people interested.
Once my arm has finally healed, I will be at more congresses. It was down to David that we were able to do this one as he set it up for me. All I had to do was the computer side
