Spens Cup 1929-30
By Alan McGowan
Greenock CC wins the Spens Cup for the third time. Anyone with a particular interest in Greenock history is encouraged to have a look at the pages for the club's earlier victories in 1911 and 1923, where they will see some interesting photographs that were donated by a relative of a member of the club. Some of the players in the Greenock teams have still to be identified.
Also, Dr Love forced Alekhine to resign in a simultaneous display in Greenock 1923 that was part of Alekhine's tour of Scotland.
