  Printed Grading List 2015-2016
Posted by: Douglas Bryson - 17-06-2015, 07:39 PM - Forum: Ask the Grader - Replies (1)

The 2014 Chess Scotland AGM and follow up Council meetings discussed cost saving measures with regard to the printing of the Grading List. The online display of grading information has meant that sales of the book have declined sharply in recent years.

This season there will no longer be a printed grading book sent out automatically to all graders, tournament organisers, officials etc. A complimentary copy of the book will however be sent out free of charge in PDF format.

Some players and officials have indicated they would still like to be able to use the printed grading list. To satisfy these requests we will make a shorter print run of the grading List but only for copies which have been purchased in advance. That way we minimise printing costs on potentially unsold copies.

If you would like to order a copy of the printed Grading List please buy a copy before August 1 2015 by using the online form here <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.chessscotland.com/membership/membership.htm">http://www.chessscotland.com/membership/membership.htm</a><!-- m -->
The charge is £5 and includes postage. The size of the print run will be determined by the number of orders taken by that date. The book will be printed up in early August and posted out to purchasers. There will only be a very limited number of books available for purchase after this date.

  Grading Deadline 2015
Posted by: Douglas Bryson - 17-06-2015, 07:37 PM - Forum: Ask the Grader - Replies (1)

The 2014-15 grading year finishes on June 30, 2015. The July 1, 2015 set of FIDE international data will be imported and included in player results for this season. The Grand Prix 2014-15 finishes with the 2015 Scottish Championships in Edinburgh. The data will be used for the Grand Prix only and will not be processed for grading for 2014-15 season. The 2015 Scottish Championships will be the first event of the new 2015-16 season and will use new season grades when the data is processed.

There will be a period of checking data in July before the new season is created. If there are any missing results, or corrections to results, junior ages, spellings or player club affiliations please send asap.

Thanks to all who have supplied grading data and information this season. Thanks to grading system programmers Gordon Rattray and Andrew McHarg.

  Split Open Chess
Posted by: Matthew Turner - 09-06-2015, 07:10 PM - Forum: Scots Abroad - Replies (4)

I am thinking about playing in the Split Open 8th - 15th Aug. I see last year David Fowler and Nigel Chapman played. I would quite like to find out what it is like (the hotel scores very badly on trip advisor). Can someone help me make contact with either David or Nigel?
