  Tournaments in October/November?
Posted by: John Dempsey - 09-04-2015, 06:46 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (8)

Can anyone advise me if there are any tournaments running in October or November of this year(2015)?
I am planning to come over in that period and it would be nice to play in something.

Is there any chance that an update can be provided regarding this year's event?

Ive already PMd David but got no reply and not sure if the responsibility has been delegated to someone else.

Hopefully it will not be allowed to be abandoned this year!

Last week for entries...

Just to reassure those of you who have entered... I have encountered a few problems with the webpage which list the entrants. Many of you have contacted me to say your name has dropped off the list. Rest assured that i have all the correct data stored in my own list, which will be the one used for the event. The online list should be used as a guide only;-)

Any news on when/how the Scotland team for this will be selected? It is usually a pay-to-play event for our team I think, so even though it's 6 months away....Andy M? (Would have PM'd you but doesn't seem to work very well sometimes :/ full inboxes/outboxes, etc)

  Glasgow League Website
Posted by: Andy Howie - 30-03-2015, 01:46 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (25)

Morning all,

There seems to be a strange problem with the GCL website www.glasgowchess.com. Managed to rule out the server and browser which leaves only ISP and DNS.

If you are unable to see the site, would you mind replying on this thread with who your ISP provider is as I am beginning to suspect this could be ISP related.

I am on Talk Talk and have no issues, I can also see it on T-Mobile on my phone

Meant to add, Direct link to the server for people not seeing it is http://www.aekphotography.co.uk/glasgowc...lcome.html

Cheers

Andy

  Richardson/Spens - what next?
Posted by: Keith Rose - 30-03-2015, 12:28 PM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - Replies (79)

Some debate ideas have started in the topic 'Richardson/Spens results', beginning on page 3 with a posting by George Neave. There needs to be a wide discussion on how these tournaments continue, not least format and bona fide rules.

Given that this forum is used by a relatively small number of people can I ask that you raise these issues with your team-mates and wider club membership so we can get a good cross section of opinion? I will email the secretaries of all clubs in any event asking for opinions and hoping that the topic will reach everyone who might have an interest.
