The Wester Hailes Junior Congress, organised by Lothian Junior Chess, is being held 23rd Nov. at the WH Education Centre. For those who have never been before this is a really convenient location for those based outside of Edinburgh as it is just minutes from the Hermiston Gait and the end of the M8.
Further details can be found on the Lothian Junior Chess web site:-

SNCL Fixtures and dates |

Just making sure you all know that the fixtures are up on the official SNCL website.
(my website for SNCL is redundant and has been removed)
To find website go to Chess Scotland, Main menu, Leagues
There was also a problem with dates -- the venue double booked us with Blood Transfusion Unit - we naturally lost!!
The dates are now 9/11/14 15/2/15 15/3/15 and 29/3/15
I have also booked the next season 25/10/15 29/11/15 28/2/16 27/3/16
Look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Scots do well in World Seniors at Katerini, Greece |

In the recent World Seniors Craig Pritchett (in the Over 65) finished 5th= on 7.5/11, 1/2 point behind the winners. Though he defeated GM Evgeni Vasiukov (who I believe gave a simul in the Polytechnic in the 80s) in the last round, it might have been even better - crucially perhaps Craig made a simple blunder against fellow IM Zelnin while on 4.5/6.
Also creditable performances from David Findlay 9= in the Over 50s with 6.5/11 and Alan Borwell (5.5 in the O65), all three picking up ELO points. +
Couldn’t tell with Phil Giulian’s result, with the ELO table apparently disagreeing with the tournament table

Wondering if someone might be able to recommend some links to online sites that provide good materials that are easily printed out for working through with juniors. In particular mid-late primary age juniors that can play but are not experienced.
Also if anyone happens to have any good puzzle material or anything else and is happy to share, please do so! I can be emailed at dunbarchessclub@gmail.com
Thanks

Australian chess player/coach/writer Brendan Norman has just published this ebook for Kindles etc on Amazon. It is only free for a few days.
Its called "Bobby Fischer: Beautiful Chess Games, Weird Stuff and Cool Articles" will be pretty useful for players who are fascinated by Bobby Fischer's life, amazing chess, as well as his personal challenges.
Don't know how good it is, but its free so nothing to lose by having a look, can find it with this link: http://amzn.to/1vsjhqv
