  Council meeting
Posted by: Jacqui Thomas - 07-03-2014, 05:21 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (136)

I see that items for the council meeting on 16 March have to be submitted by tomorrow.

As an observer, I think that it would be difficult for members to know if they need to raise some items when they still don't know what was discussed at the AGM last August or the last council meeting in January.

  TPR performance of 1800 for a J10
Posted by: robin moore - 05-03-2014, 07:54 PM - Forum: Junior Chess Chat - Replies (9)

I note Vagif Ramazanov (J10) had a TPR of 1800 at the Vineburgh congress at the weekend. Is this some kind of record for a junior of that age in Scotland?

  Debt
Posted by: George Neave - 28-02-2014, 10:47 PM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (15)

Am I reading the accounts correctly? It appears to have ran up a debt of £13K in course of a year. Looks largely attributable to losses from Scottish Championship. It would useful if the relevant office bearers could comment here what went wrong and also what ideas are there to recover the situation? Thank you

  Short/Aargaard lessons Edinburgh

Not sure what the Nigel Short Chess Society is, but it just sounds good. This advert was in the recent edition of the Lothian Primary Times, a magazine which gets sents home to parents of primary age kids. Hopefully it may help someone, should be well worth the petrol/time for a parent to get their kid to Edinburgh for this.

Hi Folks,

I will be out on school business until Fri 28th. If you have entries etc sent to me either letter or online I will collate them when I get back and send to Alex etal for posting on noticeboard. All entries up to then are £60

At the moment there is only one tourney I am entering you all for. I do not know if they will be graded nearer the time. We will have to wait for Alex to let us know!!
