Championship event - I have tidied up the details (corrected names & FIDE grades) from the live data broadcasts. I've not cross checked with the score tables - so if you spot any errors please let me know =)

Cumbernauld chess club have moved into new premises which include a bar.
We would be interested to hear the views of other chess players on the availability of alcohol at chess clubs.Particularly clubs which already have bar facilities.
We are unsure whether we should allow alcohol on "Match Nights"
All thoughts appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S. Andrew, if you wish to add a poll to this subject you are welcome to do so.

After 4 rounds I am on 2 points, with two losses as white against players from Ukraine and Croatia, and 2 wins as black against players from Greece and Poland. Tomorrow will be tough though as I have white against former double world champion Sergey Krylov from Russia.

I am participating in the Great Scottish Swim at Strathclyde park on the 24th of September. It is a 2 kilometre swim the length of the park.
Hopefully I am a bit better at swimming in open water than I am at Chess!

I am taking the opportunity to raise money for the Children's Liver Disease
Foundation, www.childliverdisease.org. Every day in Britain two children are diagnosed with liver disease. The CLDF provides support for children, young people and their families affected by liver disease. They also conduct research on liver disease.
Any donations, for what is a great cause, would be greatly appreciated.

I am writing an article for the British Chess Magazine about 'Brits Abroad', and I would welcome any games (annotated or otherwise) and reports from non-titled players who have been using their summer holidays wisely!
Email me at adamraoof@gmail.com for more details, but you don't need to write a lot, just tell me what you thought of the tournament, how you did, who you went with and so on - and let me have a link to the tournament website.

Chess Coach wanted |

Would anyone be interested in coaching the chess club at Jordanhill School Primary Department (in the West End of Glasgow)? I retired from this at the end of last session, having run it for about 15 years, and sadly, the management have failed to keep it going this term.
I recently received an email from a parent stating:
"I have spoken with other parents and we are keen to keep the club going. I feel I can build a pool of parents who will supervise and manage the kids but what we lack is chess expertise. Would it be a viable option to seek a local chess coach? ... Do you know of anyone we could approach?"
You would not need to be an expert or a registered coach (I am neither), all that is required is enthusiasm, a good understanding of the game, and the ability to teach the children to play by the rules.
In recent years the club has met on Mondays from 3.30 to 4.30pm due to the availability of a suitable room at that time, but I have previously run sessions at the same time on other days and sometimes at lunchtimes also. I think the timing would be negotiable. There would be some remuneration - again negotiable: charging the children would be a new approach as the club has previously been completely free, with equipment and occasional expenses paid for by the school.
I would be happy to provide further information if anyone has any questions. Either post a reply here or send me a private message.
