  Glorney Gilbert Junior Internationals Appeal
Posted by: Craig Pritchett - 11-04-2018, 05:19 PM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - Replies (12)

https://mydonate.bt.com/events/glorney2018/461374

Please see the above link to an Appeal by the Scottish Junior Chess Association Educational Trust (SJCAET), a registered charity in Scotland since 1969, for funds to help meet the costs to Chess Scotland (CS) of hosting this year's Glorney Gilbert International Junior events in Scotland.

The Trust will itself grant £1,000 towards meeting the CS budget of some £6,250, which includes the accommodation costs of the 20 Scottish players and the venue costs. We have set a target of £4,000 for the Appeal itself. Please note that by using the facility of the Trust's BT MyDonate webpage, (UK taxpaying) donors can opt to Gift Aid donations, most efficiently.

See full details about the Events and Appeal at the link above, which appears at the homepage at the Trust's website: scotyouthchess.org.uk

The last time these events were held in Scotland (2014), The Trust made a similar £1,000 grant and raised Appeal funds of some £2,150. This is a worthy cause. Let's try and break that amount in 2018!

Please spread the news about this Appeal to family and friends, indeed as widely as possible.

Thank you

SNCL is on this sunday

1) Clocks go forward an hour - don't be late. We start the games at 10.00 prompt

2) Bring the trophies please

3) Do not leave any property behind. I am not keeping things until next season.

4) In the afternoon is the Team Lightning Comp. Please stay and play. It is usually finished by 6pm at latest.

5) AGM is hopefully at 3pm. All Captains must attend please, there may be important votes. Any Agenda items give them to me or Andy before 12.00 on Sunday

Anything I've forgotten to say I'm sure Andy will add in.

Next year's dates will have to change due to congress commitments so definitely will need discussion on this at AGM

Anyone want to discuss some chess on here?

Kramnik's win against Aronian today must be one of the most brilliant games of chess I have ever seen! Creative, aggressive and some very beautiful sacrificial play to wrap it all up. Looks to me like he wants his title back!

  Dundee Congress
Posted by: Keith Rose - 05-03-2018, 04:53 PM - Forum: Tournaments and Events - Replies (1)

We are pleased to say that the Dundee & Angus Congress will be back this year. The dates are 19-21st October. This is closer to the probable date for the SNCL but earlier dates were not available to us so it's this or nothing.

The venue will be different - David Lloyd's priced us out - but the new venue is close to the City Centre, easy to get to by public transport. There are plenty of car parks nearby but unfortunately none of them free.

Further details in due course. Check our facebook page ( Dundee Congress FB ) and our website ( Dundee Congress web )

.
