could not include the new super tournament in Ayrshire as it is restricted to players who live in Ayrshire or who are bona fide members of Ayrshire chess clubs ; details to follow

Inverness update - 16 spaces already taken. Only 32 spaces left. I'll be at the Scottish Championships in Edinburgh at the weekend for anyone wishing to get there name down for the Ness Chess weekend. It's the first qualification tournament for the Super 8 with places and points up for grabs.

Inverness is a damn good tournament and I would recommend it to anyone.

I am not sure I understand how the super 8 works. Is the idea to have a five round Swiss with eight players played over five weekends? I cannot imagine that many people would be available for five set weekends, so perhaps i am misreading the intentions.

Yes Matt, the intention is to have five rounds on five weekend days over the course of the season.
The dates will be announced well in advance (hopefully quite soon) and will take into account regular CS calendar events such as SNCL, as well as International events and other events that Scottish players may be involved in, like 4NCL.
I am hopeful that given enough advanced notice and the incentives such a tournament will have, players who qualify will make themselves available on the five tournament days.

I see Inverness is up to 19 now, so 29 places available.
Besides the usual internet booking options, I have found this b and b site helpful...
