I meant that some of our best players have spent years trying to improve...and then when we walk onto the world stage we are light years behind :/
I just find it crazy that, for example, Carlsen is 700 points higher-rated than me, and I am only 400 points higher-rated than my first adult rating from about 30 years ago - despite working on the game reasonably hard! :-o
