William Moffat Inverarity

Born 1903, Oldham, England - Died, 22 December 1983, East Renfrewshire County, Scotland

  • Member of Glasgow CC from the 1930's.
  • on the Glasgow CC teams which won the Richardson Cup in 1938, 1951, and 1954.
  • selected for the team for the 1939 Buenos Aires Olympiad, though Scotland later withdrew from the event.
  • shown as a member of the Scottish Chess Association in the 1953-54 Yearbook with an address at 52 Beech Avenue, Newton Mearns.
  • in 1956 he was elected Scottish representative to the BCF national grading committee for classification of players, being responsible for recording all local results.

Additional notes:

Mr Inverarity, a schoolteacher at Pollokshaws Secondary and Westwood Schools, married Agnes Richardson in Glasgow in 1932. His qualifications are shown as M.A., B.Sc., F.R.A.S. He was a member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society with home addresses shown as 11 Ravenshall Road, Glasgow, S. 1 (1932), 46 Stamperland Gardens, Clarkston (1933) and 'Keil', 52 Beech Avenue, Newton Mearns at the time of his death.
