Tidy up of old game files!
Posted by: William Hulme - 26-04-2017, 12:17 PM - Forum: The Games Zone - Replies (2)

I'm doing a tidy up of the old game files on the DOWNLOADS page.
Some of the very old ones are .EXE files which don't work correctly on modern computers and others were in a very old Chessbase format and could be difficult to open also.
I have converted everything to .PGN format and will use this moving forward.

I've created a new single file to download everything as well as an index file of what is in there.
Please visit the new DOWNLOADS page to access everything.

P.S.
If anyone has a pile of scoresheets needing entered or wants to help enter games please message me or contact via downloads@chessscotland.com

Rainbow Glorney

<Thought I posted this already, but will try again>

Summer...is, as ever, really (really...) busy.

Would it be possible to highlight the plan/schedule re Glorney (and for that matter any other potential junior selection events we're considering) ?

Teachers call for chess as a mindsport
Posted by: JMcNicoll - 13-04-2017, 10:49 AM - Forum: General Chess Chat - Replies (4)

An article buried in a newspaper I read has the Association of Teachers and Lecturers annual conference calling for chess to be classed as a mindsport and schools given funding to teach it.

It goes on to say that the game is "cheap and easy" and urge the government to create a fund for the promotion of such mindsports.

Don't know about the easy bit but certainly cheap.
